Welcome to My World!
Born and raised in the Midwest, I was immersed in massive fields of crops, rolling pasture land, and the musty, organic damp of a creek’s under growth. And that is what I painted. My work focused on the land and its content. I reveled in the intense color and textures while experimenting with watercolor techniques to bring my landscapes to life.
After taking courses at Emporia State University and Kansas State, I moved to New Mexico and continued to paint, exhibiting at juried shows across the United States and in local galleries while finishing my BFA in Studio Art. The strikingly different colors and light of the Southwest influenced an evolving color palette and aesthetic while the arid climate forced me to adapt my painting techniques to accommodate my fluid watercolor style. New Mexico also introduced me to the world of book publishing, launching a parallel career in illustration, cover art, and book layout and design.
In 2020, I returned to the Midwest and continue the evolution as I apply my water-media techniques to the interpretation of the Midwest aesthetic within all aspects of my work. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
